          Generali US Branch

Established in 1935, and domiciled in the state of New York, Generali US Branch is the U.S. representative office of Assicurazioni Generali, S.p.A.

The US Branch was initially established to operate as a Property and Casualty reinsurance company, and then as a direct insurance company through MGAs between 1987-2000. In the early 2000s, the Generali Group began expanding its Multinational portfolio, and the US Branch began servicing the US risks of the Group’s Global Corporate & Commercial clients. The Branch closed its MGA business and became licensed as a domestic insurance/reinsurance company in all 50 states and territories for all major business lines. After a series of profitable partnerships and a new focus on North American expansion in 2010, GUSB began underwriting the travel insurance portfolio of Generali Global Assistance,  formerly doing business as CSA Travel Protection, a $75 million/year business venture that placed Generali amongst top competitors in the US travel insurance market.

In 2019 the US Branch launched its Specialty Lines Division. With the US Branch’s unique ability to act as a service contract obligor and insurer of contractual liability insurance policies and in partnerships with high quality administrators, the company is positioned to deliver comprehensive service contracts solutions. In an increasingly global world, the Specialty Lines Division seeks to provide both insurer and obligor services for warranty programs worldwide by applying the experience Generali Group’s 71,000 employees have gained from serving more than 61 million customers across the globe. Combining obligor services with the financial backing of Generali Group, which had a total premium income of more than €66 billion in 2018, will allow the new warranty services business to provide dedicated support with sound financial backing to both US-centric and multinational consumer facing businesses.
